If we practice the science of yoga, which is useful to the entire human community and which yields happiness both here and hereafter-if we practice without fail, we will then attain physical, mental, and spiritual happiness, and our minds will flood towards the Self.” -Sri K. More info on the course and Bela’s schedule:
Ashtanga Yoga is a very dynamic form of yoga that knows different series. The first series know as the Primary Series is made up of sequence of postures that is practised to cleanse the body and mind from the inside out. The practice is a moving meditation. The objective is that each breath is a very conscious breath. The set sequence of postures, the consistent flow, the engagement of energy locks (bhandas) and the focus (drishti) and listening to specific breathing that is applied are all techniques to turn the senses inward and make mindful concentration and ultimately meditation possible.

Many of us start Ashtanga Yoga not even with the objective of meditation. We start because we are drawn to the dynamic form , the challenging postures or to make the body healthy, flexible and strong. Ashtanga Yoga was founded by K. Pattabhi Jois and today is grandson Sharath is leading the institute in Mysore. This form of yoga is practice everywhere in the world by young and old. It is a form of yoga for everybody even though some think it is meant only for the flexible due to its challenging postures.
I got to know Bela in the Netherlands when she was teaching a Mysore programme there in the Hague.
At the time I was just introduced to Ashtanga Yoga and had no idea of all the benefits of this physical form of yoga. My first sun salutations with Bela did not flow. She only let me practice the sun salutations and make me repeat them and she would make me work on my breath. Looking back it was difficult for me to breath correctly. My way of breathing reflected my life at that point of time. The connection with the breath was so difficult for me. Even though I had started with yoga I still had a lot to learn. In the meantime it has been 5 years ago and ashtanga yoga has give me so much. I still find it difficult to step on my mat every day but I do my best and practice. Yoga has taught me to commit, pursue, have patience, to focus and concentrate and do things mindful. In combination with meditation I am becoming stronger in my mind and am more balanced. That is why I practice.

I truly hope you can attend this course in February. It is a unique chance to be taught by such an experienced Ashtanga Yoga teacher and to experience what yoga does to you when you practice daily.
Join us and let yourself be carried by the beautiful group energy and let yourself be inspired by Bela and the other students. Besides this two week course Bela will also teach workshops on 2 Saturdays.
